J. Rice Ferrelle, Jr.
J. Rice Ferrelle, Jr. is a trial, appellate and arbitration attorney who has experience handling a variety of commercial and contractual matters, product liability, admiralty/ maritime and personal injury litigation, and complex disputes involving business regulation, securities arbitration and the protection of intellectual property interests. He is admitted to The Florida Bar and State Bar of Georgia and licensed to practice in state and federal courts throughout Florida and Georgia, including the United States District Court for the Northern, Southern, and Middle Districts of Florida, as well as the Northern and Southern Districts of Georgia.
Prior to joining Murphy & Anderson, P.A., Mr. Ferrelle was an associate with the Jacksonville law firm of Smith, Hulsey & Busey. He has had the opportunity to work in several prestigious law firms throughout Georgia and Florida and is knowledgeable in the areas of commercial law, product liability and personal injury, copyright, trademark, trade secret and unfair competition law, admiralty/maritime law and general business litigation. Mr. Ferrelle has received recognition as a Florida Rising Star and is featured in Super Lawyers (2011).
Mr. Ferrelle is a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law where he served for two years on the Editorial Board of the Georgia Journal of Intellectual Property Law. In 2003, Mr. Ferrelle’s strong research and writing skills earned him the honor of publishing nationally a student commentary on the application of trade secret law in professional sports industries.
Mr. Ferrelle was born and raised in Saint Simons Island, Georgia and attended the University of Virginia for undergraduate studies. At the University of Virginia, Mr. Ferrelle was a member of numerous student organizations, including the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, and was selected onto the UVA Men’s Club Soccer team (2002-04). Mr. Ferrelle earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics with Honors of Distinction, together with a minor concentration in Government & Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Ferrelle is a member of the Florida, Georgia and Jacksonville Bar Associations, the Trial Lawyers and Employment Litigation Sections of The Florida Bar, the Chester Bedell Inn of Court, Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, Maritime Law Association, Florida Bar Admiralty Law Committee, and the Intellectual Property, Sports/Entertainment Law and Commercial Litigation Sections of the Jacksonville Bar Association. He also serves as Chair of the Jacksonville Bar Admiralty and Maritime Law Section.
While not practicing law, Mr. Ferrelle enjoys playing golf and tennis, fishing, spear-fishing, watching sports, and spending time with his wife and two children.
